3rd Annual RBG Bird-a-Thon  - May 9th, 2009

Spring has finally arrived and so have the birds!!  To ensure that our Wisconsin birds continue to return, the Rainforest Biodiversity Group will be doing our 3rd Annual Bird-A-Thon Fundraiser. This event is being held on May 9, the same date as International Migratory Bird Day, another great reason to celebrate!

Our fundraising goal this year is $2,000. Help us reach our goal by either participating as a birder in the event, or by sponsoring one of the birders.

How does the Bird-a-Thon work? Birders volunteer on May 9 to identify (see or hear) as many species of birds during that day as possible. Each birder secures pledges for their individual birding effort. Donors can either pledge a certain amount per bird species seen or heard, or they can simply make a flat donation to support their birder. By donating $0.10/0.25/0.50 (or more!) a bird species, we will be well on our way!

Any donor who contributes a minimum of $50.00 will receive the Bird-a-Thon t-shirt! Each participating birder will also get this free t-shirt!

The money raised from the Bird-A-Thon will be used to support our conservation project in Costa Rica, the Costa Rican Bird Route. The land being protected through this project is extremely important for the conservation and protection of many of our breeding birds here in Wisconsin.

If you would like to sponsor a birder, simply email Daniel Schneider of RBG at birdmandaniel@gmail.com with the amount PER BIRD SPECIES you would like to donate, and he will assign you a birder to sponsor. If the weather cooperates, the one-day record of 120 species could be broken!

If you would like to volunteer as a birder, download the Bird-a-Thon sponsor form, and start gathering your pledges.
You can also donate a set amount to the event by sending a check to Rainforest Biodiversity Group, 7 N. Pinckney St. Suite 220, Madison, WI 53703; or using the Paypal button below.

The Rainforest Biodiversity Group is a fully accredited non-profit and your donations are tax deductible.
Happy spring (migration) to all of you!
